Projection mapping is a perfect visual complement to any live concert.

NOVA Light Labs was brought to the Treefort Music Fest in Boise, Idaho, where the legendary Gene Harris Bandshell needed a fresh angle on lighting.

The studio read it on sight. A plain white half dome wrapped around the performers, a flawless canvas for projection mapped visuals.

NOVA answered with custom content mapped to the exact geometry of the shell and mixed live to the beat across both the 2025 and 2026 runs.

The curved shell wraps the crowd in light and turns the whole stage into one moving surface.

Low ambient light lets the projection take over. The visuals bend around the dome and wash across the band until the performers glow inside their own frame.

From the crowd it reads as a single continuous surface. Guests stand in a bowl of shifting color, and for a beat the whole field drops to a hush.

When the visuals fit the building and pulse to the beat the night reaches another level.

That is exactly what NOVA built for each of the bands across every night of performances.

The artists were known in advance. The setlists were not. So every look was designed to be mixed on the fly and locked to whatever the band played.

Surreal plants and color wash over complex geometric patterns. Clouds, sun, and other earthly textures finish a signature look built for this shell and no other.

A rig built to light the stage, carry the visuals, and mix it all live in the open air.

Keeping the performers lit outdoors called for a high brightness 3DLP laser projector sealed in an all weather enclosure.

With that much light on the shell a high resolution image held its detail, even for the crowd pressed right against the stage.

The show ran through NOVA's own VJ mixing tools, cued live to keep every look locked to the beat.
