New architecture calls for new art.

Sea Level Properties wanted their new Capitol Hill building to feel like more than another facade. NOVA Light Labs answered. A custom outdoor projection mapping system, designed and specified for the wide brick wall on the building's southern face.

The result is a nightly video mural for the neighborhood. A plain wall made luminous. The content shifts with the seasons and the show endures, evening after evening.

An outdoor digital art gallery that opens every evening.

The wall wakes each evening. Neighbors catch it on walks home, on nightly errands, across a long summer weekend. A small crowd gathers in the glow on this pedestrian corner of Capitol Hill.

So much art waits behind gallery walls and locked doors. This one waits for no one. It opens with the dusk and gives the whole street something to look up at.

The creative teams at Sea Level Properties and PCNW have run with the platform, hosting regional artists across the activation. NOVA joined as consultant. Each artist's work was translated into the language of projection mapping, shaped to the building itself.

Watch how the imagery meets the edges of the wall. In person the effect deepens. The content does not sit on the building, it is custom tailored to fit it.

Built to shine through every Seattle season.

This projection mapping system had to outshine a busy city and run for years. It also had to stay flexible. Bright, durable, and open to new content on demand.

NOVA specified dual laser projectors to cover the wall evenly at 36,000 lumens. An industrial media server sits between them, running playback, scheduling, remote access, and remote viewing.

No rooftop trips, no USB drives.

Every component was specified for custom outdoor rated rooftop enclosures. Climate controlled. Filters that clean easily. Engineered to hold through cold snowy winters, hot summers, and wildfire smoke, and it has run automated for years.
